Private John Horace Holt

John Horace Holt was born in Smeeton in 1885, the son of Robert & Annie Holt.

He enlisted the Royal Army Service Corps at Market Harborough, service number S4/140078, but was transferred to the 7th Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), service number G/95989.

He was killed in action on 30th September 1918, France & Flanders.

Private Holt was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal and is buried at Anneux British Cemetery, Nord, France, plot reference IV. D. 5.
