Flight Sergeant Tom Lumley Kennedy

Tom Lumley Kennedy was the son of Tom Lumley Kennedy and Margaret Kennedy. He was married to Joan Elizabeth Kennedy, of Salfords, Surrey. He was a Flight Sergeant (Wireless Officer/Air Gunner), service number 550870.

He died on 2nd June 1942, aged 23 years, and is buried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Nordhein-Westfalen, Germany, in a collective grave, Plot 28, Row C, grave 17-18.

Tom Kennedy does not appear on any war memorial in Kibworth or Smeeton, but is included in this section as his name is listed on the Roll of Honour that appeared in the 1945 edition of the Kibworth News. He obviously had some connection with the villages but we have been unable to discover the connection.

In addition to his inclusion on the Roll of Honour of the Kibworth News, he is commemorated on the Roll of Honour of the Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire, 355th Fighter Group.
